Standards

The technical staff at SMD has been active in standards development organizations since 1999 with particular focus in the IEEE 802.15 working group. Notable contributions include authoring the PHY/MAC proposal adopted as the original 802.15.4-2003 standard and serving as technical contributors and editors throughout the entire standards process. Additional contributions include:

• 802.15.3c - PHY proposal adopted as optional mode

• 802.15.4f - Technical contributions
• 802.15.4g - Interest group chair, technical contributions, consultant to major OEM
• 802.15.4-2011 - Technical editing

• IEEE 802.15 TG4j - Medical Body Area Networks (MBAN)

SMD is also an Adopter member of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.
